AGTV Spring Art Show 2020

Dear Art Guild Member, 

Here is information you will need in order to participate in the AGTV Spring Art Show to be held May 1, 2, and 3 at the Tellico Village Community Church’s Christian Life Center.

Art Show hours will be: 

  • Friday, May 1, 5‐8pm for the “Meet The Artists Reception”
  • Saturday, May 2, 10am‐4pm
  • Sunday, May 3, 8am‐2pm.

Applications and fees must be received by March 31, 2020.

For the first time, we will be accepting applications online on our website: 2020 Art Show Application

Once you have submitted your application online, you will send your check, made out to AGTV, to:

Pat Kurowski, 140 Oostanali Way, Loudon 37774. You may also bring your check to the March 19 Art Guild Meeting.


ART DROP OFF

  • Art is to be dropped off on Thursday, April 30 from 1:00-3:00
  • No art will be accepted outside of these hours

PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS (3)

  • Each visitor may vote one time (NOT once per visit) on the provided ballots
  • Winners will be announced on Sunday, May 3, at 1:30. Artists should be present for this announcement.

ART PICKUP

  • Art is to be picked up from 2:00-2:15 pm on Sunday, May 3
  • The artist or a designee must be there
  • Artists should take their cardboards.

PROGRAMS

  • The programs will list the following for each artist: Artist Name (as provided on Application), Art Titles, and Prices (or NFS).

Eligibility Requirements – AGTV Exhibit 2020

The artist must be dues-paying member for 2019-2020.

Originality Required: No copied ideas from the internet or other sources: personal references.

Family-friendly topics are required.

2-D ART REQUIREMENTS

  • SIZE LIMITATIONS
    • A maximum of 5 items are permitted UNDER 36” in any direction.
    • If you have works that are larger than 36”, the following restrictions apply:
      • An artist is limited to 2 items over 36” and 1 smaller painting
      • An artist is limited to 1 item over 36” plus 3 smaller paintings
      • The artist must provide an easel for each painting over 36” on any side.
  • PRESENTATION (NOT IN COMPLIANCE=NO ACCEPTANCE)
    • Clean Mats and no broken or marred frames
    • Wires must not show when hung (recommend 1/3 down frame back)
    • No eye-hooks or wire fasteners that protrude: No saw-tooth hangers
    • Cardboards to completely cover each 2-D item (names on them)
    • No late acceptance; art must be delivered at appointed time/day.
    • Oils and acrylics may not need a frame if deep-profiles are painted and no staples are detected
    • Painted surfaces must be dry.

3-D ART REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 5 items may be entered (we have limited 3-D stands)
  • Sculpture must be securely positioned on bases
  • Items must balance
  • Jewelry must be in boxes or on forms

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL DISPLAYED ART

  • No prices are to appear on any displayed items.
  • No sales are to occur within the church building.
  • Once art is positioned by the committee, nothing is to be moved.
  • Art listed on application must agree with delivered items.
  • All artwork must have a label affixed to the bottom or back which contains the title, artist’s name, medium and price. (Print off a page of labels that you can use: Artwork Labels)

ART MUST BE CREATED WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS AND NEVER DISPLAYED PREVIOUSLY AT AN AGTV EXHIBIT.


ALL ENTRANTS ARE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER:

  • Attend the “Meet The Artists Reception” on Friday Night from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
  • Pay a $15 entry fee to defray the exhibition costs.
  • Bring food (dessert, fruit or cheese) for the Friday night reception or donate $10.00 for refreshments for a total of $25. We encourage you to bring food, in bite size pieces.
  • Sign‐up to work in one or more of the following capacities:

    • Setting up the equipment—tables, screens, lighting, covers, tables etc.
      • Thursday morning, April 30 ‐ 9:00‐11:00
    • Receiving the artwork and acting as “runners” for the artwork
      • Thursday afternoon, April 30 ‐ 1:00‐3:00
    • Hanging the 2‐D artwork
      • Thursday afternoon, April 30 ‐ 3:00‐6:00
    • Preparing the beverages, setting out and arranging the food, and cleaning the kitchen
      • Friday night, May 1 - 3:30‐5:00, 4:30‐6:00, 5:30‐7:00, 6:30‐8:00, or 7:30‐8:30
      • Saturday, May 2 - 9:30‐11:30, or 11:30‐2:00
    • Greeting at the door and entry table to welcome and count guests
      • Friday night, ‐ May 2 ‐5:00‐6:00, 6:00‐7:00, or 7:00‐8:00
      • Saturday, May 2 ‐10:00‐11:00, 11:00‐12:00, 12:00‐1:00, 1:00‐2:00, 2:00‐3:00, or 3:00‐4:00
      • Sunday, May 3 ‐8:00‐9:00, 9:00‐10:00, 10:00‐11:00, 11:00‐12:00, 12:00‐1:00, or 1:00‐2:00
    • Taking down the show
      • Sunday, May 3 ‐2:15‐3:00 (lights, cords and covers), or 2:30‐ 3:00 (screens, tables, chairs)
      • Sunday, May 3 ‐2:30‐ 3:30 (3‐D take down props and stow supplies and equipment)

Please keep a record of the date(s) and time(s) you have volunteered for!

Please note your work time choice in the designated place on the Application.

You will receive confirmation of your work assignment after the Application deadline of March 31.
